Commercial Transport
- Increase fuel quality
- Engine greenhouse gas purification
- Adopt other measures to save energy and fuel of ships
Improve fuel quality
When a ship’s diesel engines burn low-quality fuel, their smoke is made up of nitrogen oxides, sulfur, and carbon. These pollutants have a great impact on global warming and increase greenhouse gases. Sulfur dioxide dissolves easily in water and causes acid rain, which causes great harm to people and the environment.
Purification of sulfur oil reduces the amount of sulfur dioxide when burned. Higher quality diesel also reduces nitrogen oxide, but is more expensive to produce because it requires more refining at the refinery. The International Maritime Organization is planning to reduce the amount of sulfur allowed in ships’ fuels, possibly by 2020 to 2025.
Install the exhaust cleaner
The use of pure fuel has a great impact on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, but the higher cost of low-sulfur fuels makes many companies refuse to use this method. Another way to provide clean exhaust air by ships is to take engine smoke and pass it through cleaning and purification devices. These purifiers convert nitrogen oxide gases into nitrogen and harmless water.
This process requires retrofitting old ships and updating the ship’s exhaust system. One of the advantages of this method is that it allows ships to comply with various anti-pollution laws around the world without having to change fuel.
